The 2025 recap: Commitment, collaboration and a clear vision for a greener future

As we enter a new year, I’ve been reflecting on how Bespak has continued to grow into its role as the specialist inhalation CDMO leading the industry’s green transition. In the last 12 months, we’ve evolved from a familiar brand name into a more dynamic, collaborative, energetic organisation that is offering end-to-end solutions in the pulmonary and nasal drug delivery space, from product development through to scale up and supply.

In 2024, the leadership team refined Bespak’s core values—customer focused, respectful, collaborative and agile—and last year we embedded those values into the fabric of how we work both internally and externally. There has been significant progress on our expansion to serve the market, our leadership has been strengthened across the board, and the message we’re putting out about the importance of the green transition is being heard loud and clear.

Overall, it was a year of intense growth, bold decisions and, above all, extraordinary people stepping up to deliver on an ambitious mission.

Scaling with purpose

Last year we launched several major projects across the business, particularly in contract manufacturing. We made huge strides in our capacity expansion, growing our manufacturing capability six-fold.

That scale up is more than an operational achievement. It is a statement of intent. Demand for low carbon pMDI capacity is accelerating, and customers are moving faster than ever to secure it. At Bespak, we’re ahead of the game. We anticipate where the market is heading and drive the required changes forward. That early vision has paid off as our manufacturing capacity rapidly sold out. But we are building more, faster than anybody else.

On top of expanding our manufacturing capacity, we’ve been working hard to optimise our trusted Bespak BK357 valve for low carbon pMDIs, and it is the first to be approved for use with a next-generation propellant. We also completed our first Life Cycle Assessment on the valve, validated by sustainability experts. This allows us to clearly identify carbon hotspots and share that insight with customers, enabling collaborative planning and targeted carbon-reduction strategies for the future.

Today, we have a valve ready for any propellant, supported by robust data that we continue to share with customers. With multiple R&D studies and clinical trials underway, we’re exceptionally well positioned to support customer needs for many years to come.

A breakthrough year for ESG

2025 marked the publication of our first environmental, social and governance (ESG) update. The report was the result of immense work across the organisation. It captured not just our commitments, but the culture and conviction behind them, and the response from our industry was fantastic. From our start as a fledgling company to stepping into the ESG arena and not just publishing this report, but also getting the organisation behind it and being praised so highly—that was extraordinary.

Just two months after publishing our ESG Update, we submitted our net-zero and near-term company-wide emission reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Three weeks later, they were validated. This validation marked a significant step in Bespak’s climate journey and reinforced our commitment to taking science-aligned action, not just talking about it. We’re constantly pushing a little bit harder to see where we can take this further, but our work is always underwritten by the data and clear, substantiated commitments that we hold ourselves accountable to.

Bespak has certainly put itself on the ESG stage as a leading player in 2025 and we stand apart from other CDMOs in both our commitments and our actions. No other company has had such a significant impact over such a short space of time. If this is what we can achieve, there really are no limits to our ambition.

Celebrating our people

We saw some great achievements in 2025, but the underlying success is bringing the whole organisation together. Everyone at Bespak has demonstrated commitment to the cause. We’ve strengthened our leadership team significantly and brought in some key skill sets, welcoming a new Chief Commercial Officer and HR Director in 2025, following a new Chief Financial Officer and Chief Technical Officer at the end of 2024.

It has also been a delight to see so many team members living and breathing the company’s mission, sharing their expertise through roundtables, blogs and articles as well as engaging with the wider pharmaceutical community at events. There's a real passion about business, about quality and about sustainability. We must see the green transition done well, and the industry needs leaders like Bespak to deliver in a challenging environment. Our people have stepped up to the mark and that’s what the heart of Bespak is.

This hard work has seen Bespak named a finalist for several prestigious industry awards for our work across manufacturing, sustainability and collaboration. We even won the ISPE Collaboration Project of the Year award for our Holmes Chapel expansion project in partnership with BES Ltd. These awards are for the people of the business, and the recognition lets us know that the long hours and extra effort are contributing to the industry’s mission.

Industry-wide collaboration

The  transition to next-generation propellants is a powerful example of how collaboration is driving our industry forward. It’s one of many across our business, but it demonstrates clearly that no single organisation or individual can do it alone. Together, we gain momentum, collective power and the ability to decarbonise through our area of expertise.

As part of this collaborative spirit, our team has presented and spoken at many events and summits in 2025, including DDL, CPHI, RDD and even London Climate Action Week. The Chiesi Partnership Day was a personal highlight. We admire Chiesi greatly as a company, and they have one of the most ambitious carbon reduction programmes in the industry. We've demonstrated to companies like theirs that we can play a meaningful role in supporting their goals. Being invited to speak about how we're tackling climate change has a compounding effect for ourselves, for our customers and for the wider supply chain.

We have also opened our own doors more than ever in the last 12 months. Customer visits have increased dramatically, and almost every customer and partner we’ve met has been invited to come and see our sites. We are open, transparent and actively building the networks required to deliver this transition well.

More than pMDIs

While we stand on the crest of a pMDI revolution, it’s important not to lose sight of the fundamentals that make us a vital, long-term partner: quality, operational efficiency and exceptional customer service. Mastering these factors remains a key focus of ours and we’re continually seeking new ways to improve. This year we’ve been drawing inspiration from experts to accelerate innovation and sustainability within our own operations.

The next five years will be critical. We need to maintain momentum and keep building on our manufacturing capabilities to support a rapidly growing number of customers on their journey. But we’re not just a pMDI company. We are a global leader in complex device manufacture, moulding and assembly, delivering the highest standards of quality while expanding the capacity required to service the future.

Looking into 2026

As we dive into 2026, I want to reiterate that our successes have been down to our people coming together to do a huge amount of high-quality work. The people at Bespak are my biggest source of pride.

For our partners and customers, we’re with you shoulder to shoulder on this journey. We’ve got an important mission and, because of what we’re achieving together, a bright, sustainable future to look forward to.
