On Thursday 20th February, Martyn Parker, Training Co Ordinator of the Norfolk Accident Rescue Service (NARS) attended the Bespak King’s Lynn site to deliver potentially life saving CPR training to employees on site.

This training provided employees with the vital knowledge of how to react in the unfortunate and unexpected event of a cardiac arrest. The hands-on learning session was thought to be really useful and positive feedback was received from all of those who attended. The training will hopefully have given employees the confidence to help someone in need in an emergency and it is intended that further training sessions can be held for those who were not able to attend but wish to benefit from the training.

10 days prior to this training, on Monday 10th February, Bespak’s Vice President of Commercial, Michael Earl presented a cheque for £5000 to Paul Strutt, Manager of NARS as part of the funding they receive for being Bespak’s chosen Charity of The Year for 2019-2020. This donation will help to fund vital first response services that NARS are needed for throughout Norfolk. The organisation is funded solely by donations and Bespak are proud to support NARS in this way.

Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, many charities are seeing a significant decrease in public donations and support. NARS are no exception to this. Bespak saw the appeal NARS were making because of this and held a meeting within their charity committee to further discuss how they could be of help. They were extremely proud to be able to donate a further figure of £6554.12., some of which came via employee fundraising, towards the support of the vital services NARS provide within the local community. NARS volunteers may find themselves at risk now more than ever, face to face with potential COVID-19 cases. However, with NHS resources being stretched to the limit, NARS are also now needed more than ever assisting frontline NHS staff. Bespak are proud to be associated with NARS as their Charity of The Year, originally planned to run from April 2019 – May 2020. It has now also been decided that NARS will continue to hold their position as Charity of The Year until December 2020 to ensure that they are receiving continued support from Bespak during this difficult time.
