Since becoming an independent company in April 2024, Bespak has taken clear and measurable steps to align our business with key United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As signatories to the UN Global Compact, this latest update highlights the actions we are taking to embed sustainability across our business and supply chains, with a focus on innovation, environmental responsibility, and efficient production.
It follows our recent news, announcing our commitments to net-zero and near-term targets with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and demonstrates how we are turning ambition into action.
The following update outlines key achievements to date:
SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
Advanced the development and future availability of climate-friendly respiratory treatments without compromising patient care.
SDG 7: Affordable & Clean Energy
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
Installed rooftop solar arrays at Holmes Chapel, generating over 6% of site electricity needs from renewable sources.
Reduced reliance on grid energy, supporting long-term decarbonisation.
SDG 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth
Promote sustained, inclusive, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Introduced a structured Early Careers Programme, creating new employment pathways across key operational areas.
Delivered training and development programmes to upskill existing staff, supporting retention and internal mobility.
Supported local community initiatives, including volunteering days and charitable partnerships, strengthening our connection to regional economic growth.
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption & Production
Improving product and process sustainability across the value chain.
Completed and verified an ISO 14067-compliant Life Cycle Assessment for BK357 pMDI valves.
Conducted double materiality and GHG baseline assessments to inform sustainable production.
SDG 13: Climate Action
Accelerating the global shift to low-GWP inhaler technologies.
Scaled commercial manufacturing capacity for low-GWP propellants (HFO-1234ze and HFA-152a).
Partnered with Orbia to expand access to the Zephex® 152a propellant, supporting global pharmaceutical industry transition.
Submitted our near- and long-term Science Based Targets for validation.
SDG 15: Life on Land
Protecting ecosystems and biodiversity across our operations and supply chain.
Conducted biodiversity footprint assessments at key sites and in procurement.
Integrated biodiversity into material ESG risks and planning frameworks.
Our progress toward the SDGs reaffirms our commitment to delivering health innovation with environmental and social responsibility. These actions strengthen our position as a leader in sustainability-driven respiratory healthcare and contribute to tackling global challenges in climate, biodiversity, and health equity.
