We currently have a requirement for an IP Manager to join our Innovation team. The purpose of this role is to work within Bespak to develop and deploy IP strategy, proactively manage its patent portfolio and continue to improve the IP processes.


  • Work within the Bespak Innovation team in Cambridge and with the Product Engineering team at Kings Lynn to manage/maintain the Bespak IP portfolio and associated IP databases
  • Assume responsibility for the day to day management and maintenance of the IP portfolio at Cambridge and Kings Lynn and all associated commercial obligations
  • Work with Project leaders at Cambridge and Kings Lynn to identify patentable concepts
  • Maintain IP landscape map of Bespak competitors and areas of interest to the company
  • Undertake IP watches, searches and preliminary FTO work
  • Lead the Bespak IP strategy and establishment of policy
  • Enhance in house IP visibility and accessibility including monthly summary report
  • Establish and ensure IP procedures are followed at all sites
  • Continue to drive the implementation and improvement of the IP process
  • Work closely with Bespak’s Patent attorneys to implement the IP strategy and maintain control of costs
  • Manage document signatures from current and ex-employee inventors/officials
  • Explore potential licensing opportunities
  • Develop and maintain IP KPIs


  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering related subject
  • Significant working knowledge of IP processes and experience working with patents
  • Management of IP portfolio, patent agents and internal IP processes
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills and of building good relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Experience of compiling and submitting documentation associated with applications, patent searches and FTO
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and plenty of initiative.


  • Working to compliance with Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC, as amended 2007/47/EEC) and US FDA 21 CFR 820, 803, 806
  • Experience working within field of Drug Delivery Devices
